Get rid of those highly processed and sugary store-bought granola bars and breakfast cereals, these bars are more substantial, contain healthy proteins and vitamins such as the very important B-vitamins! Oats are fantastic for your health and should be incorporated regularly into your diet for gut, heart, and brain health. These bars are made with natural ingredients and minimal sugar. How to Prepare and Store Healthy Oatmeal Breakfast Bars

Luckily, not only are these bars healthy but they are prepared quickly and simply! Start by making your flax egg then mix together the remaining dry ingredients in a large bowl. Next, add the wet ingredients and stir well. Pack mixture tightly into an oven-safe dish lined with parchment paper and bake for 30-35 minutes. Let cool and cut into 6-8 individual bars.

This recipe used a standard size bread pan, which makes the bars thick and chewy, if you don’t have a bread pan or prefer to have them on the thinner side, you can use a larger pan. If using a larger pan adjust the bake time as they will cook faster.

These bars keep for approximately three days. Let the bars cool completely before storing them in an air-tight container. These bars taste fantastic the next day heated up quickly in a toaster oven or conventional oven.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/2 cups Rolled Oats
  • 1 tbsp Ground Flax Seed
  • 1 tbsp Water
  • 1 cup Unsweetened Apple Sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1/3 cup Melted Coconut Oil
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar more to taste
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Salt

Instructions
 

  • Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees Fehrenheight.
  • Start by making the flax egg by combining ground flaxseed and water in a small bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  • In a large mixing bowl whisk together the oats, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Add the apple sauce, coconut oil, vanilla and flax egg. Stir until well combined.
  • Line a standard size bread pan with parchment paper, pour in oat mixture and pack tightly. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown on top. Allow to cool completly. Cut into 8 individual squares and serve.
